This privacy notice provides the information for data subjects referred to in the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 679/2016.
Who we are
The Sustainability Leap service is maintained by the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke), which is also responsible for the processing of any collected personal data. More detailed contact information can be found at the end of this privacy notice.
What personal data we collect and why
Adding or editing content to the Sustainability Leap service requires registration. This is to ensure the quality of the service. During registration the users have to provide a username, email address and a name or allow for authentication through a social media account.
Registered users can optionally add information, such as a profile image, if they wish. The name and profile image help you use the community’s shared features, such as groups and discussion boards.
New content and edits
Any new content or edits are retained together with the collaborator’s user id. This applies to articles, media, discussion forums and comments.
Media
If you upload images to this site, you should avoid downloading images that have saved location information (EXIF GPS). Site visitors can download and view location information from images on the site.
Cookies
If you have an account and log in to the site, we will set up a temporary cookie that determines whether or not your browser supports cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal information and will be deleted when the browser window is closed.
When you log in, we set up a number of cookies that will save your login and display settings. The login cookies will be removed within two days, the cookies associated with the display settings will be deleted within a year. If you choose “Remember Me” during login, your login information will be stored for two weeks. If you sign out, the login cookies will be deleted at the same time.
If you publish an article or edit an existing one, we will store a cookie containing the article ID to be edited in the browser. The cookie expires in one day.
Content embedded from other sites
Articles on this site may contain embedded content (such as videos, images, articles, etc.) from a third-party provider. Browsing pages with embedded content is comparable to visiting a third-party site.
These sites may collect information from you, install third-party tracking cookies and monitor your interactions.
Analytics
Browsing Sustainability Leap service generates general statistical information for the development of the service. Visitor statistics are based on server log information and Google Analytics reporting using the Google Analytics cookie and JavaScript code.
To whom we share your information
Personal information is not used for direct marketing or for sale. Personal data will not be transferred or transferred outside the EU or the EEA.
An anonymised hash created from the email address can be sent to Gravatar to know if the user is registered with the service. You can find the Gravatar Privacy Statement at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Comments or other input may be reviewed through an automated spam protection service.
How long we keep the information
If you add new content or make edits, your input and its metadata will be kept for the time being. This is needed for tracking a single user’s modifications, if needed.
We will store user profile information for registered users. All users have the opportunity to see, edit and delete their personal information at any time. Only the user name cannot be changed. Webmasters can view and edit user profile information.
What rights do you have for your information
If you have a user account for this site or have commented on an article, you can request a compilation file of your personal information, including any personal information you have provided to us. You can also request removal of your personal information. The right to delete your personal data does not apply to any personal data that we have to keep for maintenance, legal, or security reasons.
