Ii is running a test of electric car sharing. A full electric car purchased for municipal staff working hours can be rented for private expenses such as business trips and hobbies, on weekdays from 17:00 to 00:00 and on weekends from 6:00 to 00:00.
The experiment attempts to gather information about the functionality and necessity of the idea and to utilize unused times of the car. CarDen Oy of Oulu is responsible for the actual car rental, which takes care of the car’s maintenance, insurance and rent.
Car reservation, payment and unlocking of doors are done on CarDen website. The rental price for a car is 10 € / hour. Car pick up, return and charging point are in front of the Ii municipal office. There is also a help infoboard for getting to know the service. The car’s radius when fully charged is approximately 220km.
